Sony Xperia tablet Z : The lightest and smallest LTE tablet

Sony Xperia Z tablet is the lightest and smallest LTE tablet today. It’s a 10.1-inch device. It had come to fight in the market with the leaders of the market such as the iPad 4, 
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The device is the tablet version of the Sony’s new mobile Xperia Z.

It is the improved version of the Sony Xperia tablet S. The tablet can be said the best tablet from Sony. Here’s the review of the new tablet.

Size and build
The device runs on Android Jelly Bean. The tablet weights 495g. The device is a great surprise from Sony, that it’s the lightest LTE tablet. It overcomes the light weight iPad 4 that’s 660g and Samsung Note 10.1, which weights 597g.
The design and body is adopted from the Xperia Z phone. The tablet is having a slim body of 6.9mm in depth. The dimension of the tablet is 266 x 172 x 6.9 mm, which measures 10.47 x 6.77 x 0.27-inches.

The device has an IP57 certified - dust proof and water resistant body. The back of the tablet is made of reinforced polymer. The device has a good grip, that’s it will not slip from hand.

The device is easy to carry and can be handled very easily.

Features
The device is packed fully with features. It’s same like the Sony Xperia Z phone, its waterproof up to 1m for up to 20 minutes. The device allows touches with wet hands. From this we can say that it’s most suitable for ladies, that’s it can be used in kitchen while working.

The tablet allows connecting with all the Sony devices, and thus forming a Sony network. The tablet had UI, which is same to the Xperia Z.

The other features in the tablet are SNS integration, TV-out (via MHL A/V link), XviD/DivX/MKV/WMV/MP4/H.264/H.263 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/FLAC player, Organizer, Document viewer, Photo viewer/editor, Voice memo, and Predictive text input.

The sensors in the phone are Accelerometer, gyro, and compass. The phone also has GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS. Java also can be used via Java MIDP emulator.

The connections allowed in the phone include WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA, and NFC. The tablet can b used as the remote for your TV, like most of the new tablets and smartphones does. 

The device’s WiFi is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, with DLNA, and Wi-Fi hotspot.
The tablet also have 3D surround sound enhancement. Micro-USB v2.0 port is also included in the tablet.

Performance
The tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, which is 1.5GHz. Sony is the first company and the Xperia Z tablet is the first device to work on this chip.

Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait is the CPU of the phone. The phone is available in 16, 32, and 64GB versions. The device also has a microSD slot which can be expanded up to 64GB. 

The device has a 2GB of RAM, which will increase its speed and boost the device.

Screen
The tablet has a 10.1-inch screen, which has a resolution of 1920 x 1200-pixel. The tablet’s contrast and sharpness is adjusted using the Bravia mobile engine 2, which is the same featured in the Xperia Z mobile.

Sony says that the tablet is having the widest colour spectrum, which any other tablets have. The tablet has four speakers. Two are placed in the side, and the other two are in the bottom edge.

The idea of the company is that, the two speakers will not get covered anyway, if you hold it in your hand or placed in a case. The sound will not get disrupted and the effect will be fully loaded.

The screen is protected by a Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass and Mobile Bravia engine 2.

Camera
The camera has an 8MP rear camera. The tablet also has a 2MP front-facing camera. The camera has an UI similar to the Sony CyberShot camera. It also has superior Auto mode, which is seen in the CyberShot cameras.

The camera has usual arty effects, with Sweep Panorama and a 10fps burst mode. The rear camera resolution is 3264x2448 pixels.  Autofocusis also included in the camera features.

The other features of the camera are Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, and HDR. The tablet allows video capturing at a resolution of Yes, 1080pixels, at 30fps.

Battery        
The tablet also has features to save battery power like in the Sony Xperia Z phone. The Battery Stamina mode boosts the excising power up to 8 hours. When it’s on it do the work, which Game booster do in PC’s. It turns of all unessential functions and save battery power.

The settings of the Battery Stamina Mode can be customised, and can turn on certain wanted functions. 

The device has a non-removable Li-Po 6000 mAh battery. It gives a stand by up to 1230 hours in 2G and up to 1270 hours in 3G. It provides a talk time up to 10 hours and music play up to 11 hours.

After Words
The Sony Xperia tablet is one of the best tablets other than from Apple. There are no great challenges from market ruler such as Samsung at present. It is a great tablet that offers the features for its price. The price of the tablet is $844.

It offers many features that many of the other tablets have like the Waterproof feature. It will be released soon. It offers everything that a good tablet needs. It’s the best tablet at the price of $844.
