Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 : Good but still having lack of a camera

The latest tablet from the shopping website firm is the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It is the brother of the older version from the same firm Amazon Kindle Fire HD. The model was launched in the USA last year but was late to arrive in other countries.

As the name indicates the screen size is 8.9-inches. As the competition tights there are many upcoming rivals such as the iPad Mini, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10, Nook HD, and Nook HD+. We are a little bit late, but we present a full review of the product here.

Size and Build
The new Kindle Fire weights 567g and is 8.8mm thick. This is a very comfortable size to hold. It is lighter than the iPad 4. But the size and the weight is not in a proper proportion, if the tab was 7-inch, it will be nice.

The tablet has a good grip on its backside. You will also get a case to protect your tablet from scratches, which is included in the pack.

The headphone jack is placed in the right edge of the tab. The power button and the volume rocker are also placed along with the headphone jack in the right side. The design is very sleek and is very attractive in the first look itself.

The tablet also supports micro HDMI. The micro HDMI port and the USB ports for charging are placed at the underside of the tablet. The phone doesn’t support Micro SD and GSM SIM’s.  The Bluetooth is limited to the use of gadgets like Bluetooth headphone and keyboard.

Screen
The device has an 8.9-inch display with a dimension of 240 x 164 x 8.8 mm (9.45 x 6.46 x 0.35 inches. The resolution of the phone is 1920x1200 pixels. The screen quality is 254ppi, which is relatively less than the present tablets and smartphones.

The phone has an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colours. The device also supports 10 finger multitouches.

As the names denotes the display is full HD. The device screen is not comfortable for long time use, because the eyes irritated with a long time use.But the eBook reading gives a better result.

Content
The content of the Kindle Fire HD lies in the Kindle store. The store gives access to 22 million movies TV shows, songs, apps, games, books, audio-books and magazines with over 1.5 million Kindle books and over 800,000 books priced at £3.99 or less.
Customers who are new to Prime get one free month of Amazon Prime when they purchase the Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

Features
The device comes with a lot of features, with it such as the Facebook integration, HDMI port, MP4/VP8/H.263 player, MP3/WAV/AAC/OGG/E-AC-3 player, Organizer, Document viewer, Photo viewer/editor, Free cloud storage for all Amazon content and Text-to-Speech english-language content reader.

The phone also has sensors such as Accelerometer and gyro. The browser    featured in the phone is Amazon Silk.

Video and Audio
The Kindle HD presents very good videos and audios with best quality. The company presents many features with the tab such as the IMDb, which tells you which are the actors featured in the video.

Amazon also gives Lovefilm Instant subscription with the tab. This allows you to watch Video channels on your Kindle. You can also add videos to watch later in the tab. The new Lovefilm subscribers will get a free 30-day trail with it.

The tablet comes with Dolby Digital Plus sound enhancement and loudspeakers, which gives you a theatre effect on audios. The speakers are located on the back side of the tablet.

Camera
One of the main problem of the phone is it doesn’t have a rear camera. The 1.3MP front- facing camera is not capable for taking good quality videos or images.

The camera can be used for video calling. The lack of a main camera is the most, hated thing of the device. The photos tab allows you to upload photos taken in the camera directly to social networking sites like, facebook.

Anyway the camera still disappoints us, and stops from buying the tab.

Performance
The device is powered by the new generation Texas OMAP 4470 processor.  The graphics of the Kindle HD is SGX544 graphics engine, meaning that operation is a fair bit zippier than on its 7-inch sibling.

The device runs on Android OS, v4.0 customized version, which performs good on the tablet.

Battery
Amazon offers a 10 hour battery life for its new Kindle HD. The battery proves the promise of Amazon. The device has a Lion Battery. It offers long use of apps, movies, and audios without charge lose.

The device has a USB charging cable. It doesn’t have a plug. So you need to charge the device from computer or USB enabled charger plug.

After Words
This is the Kindle from Amazon. The device provides a lot of apps. We can say it is a movie tab, because it is one of the best tablets for watching movies. The device is only available in black colour.

The only problem of the tablet is doesn’t have a rear camera. The user interface is very nice, easy to use, and is very user-friendly. The design of the tablet is also nice.

The device has no microSD port; it is also a problem because the in-build storage available is only up to 32GB. It will be good if the size was reduced to 7-inch and a camera and a microSD was included.

The price quoted for 16GB is £229, and for 32GB is £259. It is a very good tab and is best for office uses, and enterprises.
