BlackBerry Z10 : Good but too Costly

BlackBerry Z10, the first phone based on BlackBerry’s new OS BlackBerry 10 was unveiled last week. The phone comes with touch experience instead of QWERTY keyboard seen commonly in BlackBerry phones. Let’s take a look on the new software-hardware combination delivered by the phone.

Design
The phone comes with a curved design that is not found in the old models. The overall design looks pretty good. The phone gives a quick response to each and every touch we make. The company logo is placed in the centre and the camera and LED flash along the top-left corner.

At the bottom there is a slit to remove the back cover which brings the removable battery, microSD and Micro-SIM slots into view.
The phone is featured with 4.2-inch display. In the front bottom you will find the mic.
The speakers lie just above the display, as found today in phones. The top side houses the power button and the 3.5mm audio jack alongside the noise-cancelling microphone. The left edge has the Micro-USD and microHDMI ports and the right side has the volume rocker with the mute button nestled in between.

Display
The phone a 4.2-inch 1280 x 768 display (355ppi). The phone display is not so brightest as compared to other similar phones. The colour production and viewing angles are awesome. The phone comes without any physical buttons.

Camera
The phone is featured with an 8-megapixel rear camera. The camera is capable for recording full-HD videos. Images taken outdoors in daylight seem good enough. But the images which are taken in low-light conditions seem worst. The flash is not enough to overcome this problem.

There are no click buttons featured on the screen to take photos, instead clicking anywhere else except the menu elements triggers the camera. The camera offers a rectangular pointing system instead of ‘touch to focus’ seen in other Android phones. The volume button can also be used to click pictures.
The camera offers a Time Shift mode that lets you to click a series of pictures and detect faces in photos. This option is available both in Video and Still mode. This also helps to make your pic perfect.

The camera can be used to record 720p or 1080p videos in full-HD.
The 2 megapixel camera in front of the phone can be used to record 720p videos and video calls.

 Software
There is no doubt that the BB 10 OS is the most suitable OS for this phone. The OS is good for users who needs browsing the Internet, use emails, Facebook and Twitter, click the occasional picture, as well as do a bit of casual gaming.

The OS seems better than the old ones. The accessibility of more apps in the OS attracts BB lovers close to the device.

Performance
The device is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, which is the same featured in LG Optimus G. The device has 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The inbuilt speakers give out good quality sounds for music and videos. The loudspeaker while calling was not up to the mark. However the call quality was good.

Battery
The phone is featured with a 1,800mAh battery that has life of a day on heavy usage. The phones battery will remain up to 2 days on moderate use.

After Words
The phone costs Rs. 43,490 which is so high. With its price the phone comes in the range of iPhone 5 and HTC Butterfly. The price of the phone is not suitable for its features. But there are many BlackBerry fans worldwide, who is waiting for the new phone.
