Google Glass : An Amazing Gadget

Google Glass, we all are hearing this name from last year onwards, now Google put an end to our wait by launching Google Glass in markets. The device is now available for developers and will be available worldwide soon. Google Glass can be said as an Android eye behind our eyes
The device can be felt very useful when you forget to take your camera. There are many other uses for the device such as checking and sending mails etc. Google Glass is a big challenge to one of the present’s famous wearable gadget Pebble smart watch and Recon Instrument’s GPS snowboarding, but Google Glass has an upper hand in this; the reason is simple because it is Google’s device. On e of the main question that Google glass raise is that, will it make us free from the difficulty of carrying smartphones. Let’s go to the specs and features of the device.

Size and Build
When viewing from left the device looks like a pair of thin metal sunglasses hanging from a metal strip. In the right side view it is a scary Borg-like implant. In any view we cannot found any mistakes in the making and its lop-sided profile. It also meant that the device won’t sit flat on a plane surface, without tilting over. One problem of the device while wearing it is that one of the sides of the device is heavier than the other. The device eights 42g, and is light enough, only unbalancing when wearing is a problem.

         Features
The in-built Bluetooth enables basic hands-free use with any smartphone. If you need to enable GPS and SMS messaging you’ll need an Android device that works on Android 4.0.3 and above versions. As we all know video capturing and taking pictures is one of the most important uses of the Google Glass, a 5MP in-built camera helps you in this work. Videos of 720p can be captured using the device. For recording your sound the device comes with a tiny mic that captures every sound in surroundings.

The device has a ‘Siri’ like voice recognition, which is seen in Apple products, this
helps you to take pictures or launch
Google searches through talks. You can
take look at all the menus in Google
Glass by taping on the touch-sensitive frame. The Glass handled British accent with no problem but some problems
were interrupted when we test with
ruder words. We think it’s against Scandinavians. There are also GPS navigation features in the Glass.

Features such as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth are also enabled in the device. Storage of 12 GB of usable memory, synced with Google cloud storage. 16 GB Flash total is featured in the device. The audio section comes with a Bone Conduction Transducer.

A Bluetooth phone is enough to surf net on the Glass. But for the MyGlass companion app requires Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. The MyGlass option enables GPS and SMS messaging.

                                                                   Screen
Google says the Glass’s prismatic high resolution display is equal to a 25-inch screen from eight feet away. I think it’s true but Google compares it to your mobile’s screen, if you hold it in an arm’s length- about 4 or 5 feet. If you hold the Glass in this way you are able to read 4 or 5 line menu, but you couldn’t view a webpage fully or read much of an e-mail.

The screen is little tricky too. If it’s not in the right position or if moved just half or one centimetre on your nose, much of the display couldn’t be seen that’s much of its simply faded away. Images and video looked fine in the glass if rather skimpy on detail viewed within the Google Glass itself.

Google also has setups to fit the Glass in any face such as the Adjustable nose pads and durable frame that fits any face. We also get extra nose pads in two sizes for adjustability.

                                                                Performance
In the busy environment of Google, the Glass has also some problems, if you want to access internet you need a phone that is having Wi-Fi, you need to link the glass with the phone, sometimes glass may not find your phone and it’s another trouble. But this is only for the first time, if you get connection; it’s amazing in an amazing speed, in a flash the web page appears, and taking pictures in blink of an eye.

You all will be ready to take pictures automatically with your Google Glass, like the Memoto Gadget. But the present Glass is a talk ‘n’ take device, which takes pictures as our command. You need to tell the glass to take each picture. We can hope that a Glass that takes picture as our mind says may be Google’s next innovationJ.

The battery of Google Glass is capable for one
full day of typical use. Some features,
like video calls and video recording,
are more battery intensive.
You will
get a charger and a Micro USB cable.
While there are thousands of Micro
USB chargers out there, Glass is
designed and tested with the included charger in mind. Use it and preserve long and prosperous Glass use’. These words are about the USB cable which is seen on Google Glass’s website.

          AfterWords
Google has introduced only the developer’s version, that’s limited. This version is available to developers and Silicon Valley royalty. The Glass’s consumer version will be out soon, we expect to see more great features, with more dedicated apps, for navigation and health.

The Glass now seems to be a toy, which is a
great innovation. We say this because Google CEO Larry Page takes his kid’s
video using Google Glass. The Glass
acts as a camcorder, when
you forget
to take yours.  And a tab to read mails and browse net when you forget yours and
it acts as a mobile too, with your need. One of the main features is that we no need to use our hands for use that’s its hands-free. The Glass costs
$1500, which is not too high for such as gadget.
