OLED - Technology folded

South Korean Company Samsung and its main rival LG the leaders of techno world unveil their new OLED technology. The technology was introduced on Tuesday in the ongoing consumer electronics show hoping to conquer market with their new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV technology.

The OLED technology is more energy efficient and offers high contrast images than liquid crystal display. The screen is too thin as like a paper and can be folded. With this technology future mobiles can be folded like a paper. The display is made by panels which use an organic chemical compound as a key material which emits light in response to electric current.

Both Samsung and its main rival LG unveiled 55-inch OLED TV a year ago in the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This year they advanced their technology with a curved panel, which allows the distance between the user and the TV screen to be same from any angle.

Putting a step forward LG has started taking orders for the OLED TV last week. They will be available after February. Samsung faces LG by another trick they are planning to launch both curved and flat OLED TV’s.

Due to high production cost OLED TV’s are thought to popular in market around 2-3 years of time. LG is now selling its 55-inch model for $10,300(around 11 million).

Panasonic of Japan also had unveiled their OLED in an electronics display. The model unveiled by Panasonic was 56-inch prototype, which is just 1-inch larger than others. In order to face their South Korean rivals they made it larger. Watch this below video to know more about OLED technology.

We can hope that the cost of OLED TV’s and other devices will be less and available in markets soon.
