Samsung Glaxy Grand specifications

Galaxy GRAND Samsung’s new smartphone was launched in
last week. It targets people those who can’t afford a top
device such as Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II. The phone costs
Rs 21,500. It is also expensive as compared to its low-cost
rivals. Although it is costly the device is the company’s
cheapest product with features of other costliest models. Here is the specification of the
model, which will give you an idea about the product.

OS - Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

The model is occupied with the Android Jelly Bean OS, which is found rarely in law-cost
phones. It contains features that are found in higher level Galaxy handsets such as: Smart
Stay, Pop up Play and Direct Call.

Network Specification Dual SIM GSM and 3G

Galaxy Grand is the first phablet from a tier 1 brand to offer dual-SIM capability for its
phone in the 20,000 price band. 2G is supported by both SIM slots, but 3G is supported only
by SIM1 slot.

Display – 5-inch WVGA

If the Galaxy Grand was having an HD

display it would be a fantabulous one, but

unfortunately it have only a 5-inch WVGA

display that has a resolution of 480 x 800

pixels. On the other hand the main rival of

Galaxy Grand – Micromax Canvas HD has a

resolution of 720p IPS LCD. It doesn’t mean that the display of Galaxy Grand is not bad.

Viewing web pages and documents comfortably and videos are enjoyable on the large 5-

inch display.

The 8MP camera with LED flash and autofocus is featured in Galaxy Grand. This can record

HD videos. The secondary front camera of Galaxy Grand is 2MP one as against the VGA

camera in the Canvas HD.

Storage

Galaxy Grand have 8GB built-in storage with the option to expand by up to 64GB. Whereas

Micromax Canvas HD has only 4GB built-in storage and can only be expanded up to 32GB.

Galaxy Grand offers twice than Canvas HD in both cases.

SoC

The phone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual -core processor of ARM Cortex-A9 cores and

Broadcom’s own VideoCore-IV graphics engine for 2D and 3D acceleration.

Battery – Li-ion 2100mAh

Galaxy Grand features a hefty 2100 Li-on mAh battery which offers a decent talktime in

addition to fuelling other tasks such as media playback, web browsing, gaming and so on.

Wi-Fi – Dual-band, 802.11 ‘n

Galaxy Grand is one of the few handsets in this rage that offers dual-band Wi-Fi ‘n’.

Sensors

Galaxy Grand comes with sensors that will be of most use to the end user- accelerometer,

gyro, proximity and compass. The list excludes barometer, but it’s fair for an entry-level

phablet.

At last....

Many law - cost Android phablets with great features a launching every day. Most of them

are around Rs 10,000 to 13,000. And the costs of phones are decreasing. Galaxy Grand will

have to fight a big battle with low-cost phablets to conquer the market.
